Wedding Garters from Garter Girl

Tossing the garter is a long-standing wedding reception tradition. It’s a playful, sometimes dramatic and always an interesting part of the evening. It, like most aspects of a wedding, is a tradition with a story behind it.

It was once believed that keeping any part of the bride’s wedding attire would bring the holder good luck. In this case, that luck results in the catcher being the next to marry. Much like the bouquet toss, all single men are in effect vying for the honors and, in turn, stumbling to the ground!

One of Talia Events’ favorite garter companies is Garter Girl. Simple and classy, their work ranges from Eco-friendly and Something Blue to Couture and Custom.

One of my favorites…

Last year, Talia Events was truly fortunate to plan Beth and Jaime’s wedding in Eldorado Springs, CO. It was a memorable affair. Beautiful, momentous, intentional and a great party, it was a lot of fun to plan.

While digging through some pictures the other day, I came across this one of their niece and flower girl. Isn’t she adorable? It still makes me smile!

Boulder Engagement ~ Adrienne & Evan

Adrienne and Evan are getting married this summer and are just one of our favorite clients. Sweet and gracious, it’s been a pleasure assisting with the planning of their wedding over the past 8 months.

Rachael Grace recently took their engagement photographs at the base of Boulder’s Flatirons in Chautauqua Park. I couldn’t help but share these gasp-worthy photos of their day.

Tasting the Sweets at Living the Sweet Life

Living the Sweet Life is one of my newest local discoveries. Talented bakers with a knack for makingDenver cake baker out-of-this-world chocolate chip cookies, their store and sweet staff has led me to make more than a few stops. What can I say, their location, right off I-25 calls as I’m driving by in route to meetings and gatherings.

Every second Thursday of the month they host a tasting for brides, grooms, families, (and maybe even their trusty wedding planner). It offers the chance to go by their store and see and taste more.

The next one is, you guessed, it, this Thursday, May 13th. But even if you can’t make it this week, there will be another each month from now until your big day. Just be sure to let them know you’re coming ahead of time by giving them a call at 303.477.8088.

Bridal Registry, Take 2

You may or may not have read the first round of bridal registry tips in this post. Either way, as time passes you’ll want to update your registry, and add to it.

Specifically, you should re-register for gifts about 2-4 weeks before your bridal shower.  Or, if the shower is a surprise and you’re not sure when it will be happening, you can make it 3-4 months before your actual wedding.

Re-registering ensures that your guests have plenty of items to choose from for your shower and wedding gift. Much of your original registry items may have been purchased for an earlier shower or as engagement gifts and some items may not be available any longer because they are season and only sold during a limited time.

If you’re concerned about adding to your registry just for the sake of adding, there might be a few things you hadn’t thought to register for during the first round:

  • Sheets
  • Towels
  • Serving pieces
  • Tablecloths and napkins

No matter where you are in the planning process, it’s a good idea to refresh your registry regularly and not just register and forget it.
