It’s a Wrap: Wedding bouquet handles

A number of brides we’ve worked with this season have opted for cloth wraps around the handle of their bouquets. It’s a fun, potentially unique touch and fun way to add a little bit of “you” to the day.

Sole Mates to Protect Your Wedding High Heels

I was fortunate to coordinate a beautiful, outdoor wedding last Sunday. If you’re a Colorado-based bride, you may remember that it rained off and on all weekend and even when it wasn’t raining it was cloudy and threatening.

Being sure to “walk my talk” I had developed a rainplan for the couple in the event of inclement weather (see this post for my thoughts on the necessity of a rainplan for your Colorado wedding). A week prior you wouldn’t have guessed we’d need it, but all morning we considered how late we could go on pushing the time when we moved things indoors. Luckily the rain came briefly and passed quickly, but the ground was still wet.

Despite the fact that the bride had communicated to her guests and bridal party that the ground could be muddy and not conducive to high heels, some women opted to wear their favorites and walk gingerly so as not to sink into the earth.

If you’re dead set on an outdoor wedding and wearing those oh-so-cute high heels, consider picking up a pair of Sole Mates. These little clear or black plastic pieces fit on the bottom of your heels to make walking in the grass safe and graceful.

Single to Married: Changing your last name

Once you’ve chosen your date, your wedding party, your location, your dress, your colors, your flowers, your menu, your officiant, it’s likely that you’ll be asked if you’re changing your name. For some new brides it’s a deeply personal decision that takes a good deal of deliberation. For others, it’s a no brainer–they’ve known for some time that they’ll either take on their now husbands’ last name, hyphenate their own, or for some that they’ll both hyphenate and both take on a new last name.

If you’ve chosen to change your last name and take your husband’s, Miss Now Mrs. is an on-line service that makes the process easy. Talia Events Wedding ~ Congratulations Adrienne & Evan!

Adrienne and Evan were married on Chautauqua’s Lawn in Boulder earlier this month. Talia Events had the pleasure of planning the affair! It was a glorious day. The weather was perfect for their morning ceremony on Chautauqua’s Lawn in Boulder, the flowers from Cori Cook Floral Design exceeded everyone’s vision, the ceremony was wonderfully personal and heartfelt, dinner at The Hotel Boulderado was delicious and A Music Plus kept guests on the dance floor until well after 11:00 p.m. It was a party to remember!

Monograms Decoded

Monograms have grown up! They’ve gone beyond the lapel of a robe, stationery or luggage and out into the world of weddings. She’s depicted them on doors, on napkins, on favors, there’s really no space that’s not been touched.

Monograms are a wonderful way to personalize your wedding, but before you order one in flowers to adorn the door of your reception site, keep these keys in mind:

A traditional monogram for an individual is usually 3 letters, one representing the person’s first name, one the middle and a final for the last name. The last name initial appears in the center, the first name initial appears to the left of it and the middle name initial appears to the right of it.

When designing a monogram for a married or engaged couple, however, it usually reduces to 2 letters. may use two-letter monograms of their entwined initials, for example on wedding invitations.

Married couples may also create three-letter monograms incorporating the initial of their shared last/sur name. For example, the monogram MSA might be used for Mark and Ann Smith.

You may also reduce the monogram to a single letter. A simple, wooden H may hang behind the head table for the Hendersons who just exchanged vows.

Whatever the use and however you choose to incorporate them, monograms don’t have to be stuffy. Cover your initials in fabric, choose varieties of sizes and colors or iron letters onto your penant flags. Have fun, it’s a romantic way to depict your union as husband and wife!
