I don’t think I’ll ever forget the first conversation I had with Kate. She’s a Flight Attendant and she shared the things she loves about her job and, her observation that people seem to treat the plane like their personal living space. She alerted the germaphobe in me to the mess that is naturally an airplane. Everytime I’ve stepped foot on a plane since, I’ve thought of her and smiled.

Smiling is a common reaction to her. She’s fun and filled with personality. Coupling that with the sweetness of her relationship with Doug and this was bound to be a delightful wedding. We were thrilled to be a part of it, thank you both!

I am doing some styling and consulting for a local bakery that’s excited about offering Colorado brides wedding cakes. Mid-way through a conversation the other day, it came up that she makes a croquembouche. I was so excited. I’ve seen them from time to time on wedding and party blogs, but wasn’t aware of anyone in the area willing to make one.

If you’ve never heard of or seen a croquembouche, you’re in for a treat. As Wikipedia describes, it’s a French cake or dessert often served at important celebrations, including weddings. It’s essentially a cone of cream puffs that are adhered to the structure with carmel and then usually decorated with threads of spun sugar and sometimes adorned with flowers, sugared almonds or ribbons.

They’re dramatic, beautiful and French. Need I really say more?

Wow, these are some interesting and beautiful cakes from Nine Cakes in Brooklyn! I’ve seen a lot of wedding cakes, but none with this “take” on flower decorations. Aren’t they beautiful?
